NEW YORK Government investigators have found nothing wrong with the steering in 2009 and 2010 Toyota Corollas, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has concluded, closing a roughly 15 month investigation into complaints about the cars. After looking into the issue, NHTSA concluded there was no actual defect in the cars themselves. As part of the repair, the cars were given a new electronic steering control module.

Launched in 2001, the current Corolla was a significant step forward for Toyota. The previous-generation version had earned a well deserved reputation for reliability, but its styling, dynamics and comfort weren't quite on a par.Second-hand prices are fairly strong, but typically hefty first-year depreciation means you can pick up a good deal if you shop around before you buy.

Titanic’s plant was to extract stored energy from coal and convert that energy into useful work used to move the ship, power equipment, heat and light living spaces. The engine-movement orders were coded. If the engineer mis-counted the gong strokes, the ship could easily go in the wrong direction. The signal was transient, engine room staff had to remember for long periods and pass along verbally what speed order had come down.

The first wish on the part of all was to stay near the Titanic. We all felt so much safer near the ship. Surely such a vessel could not sink.

In fact 115 men in First Class and 147 men from Second class stood back to make space available for women and children from Third Class and as a result died.

Once on deck, many passengers flatly refused to climb into the small open wooden lifeboats to be launched onto the freezing ocean. Many preferred the bright lights and warmth of the Titanic and went back inside! History records him as vigorously active and involved with the radio room, the morse lamp and the distress rockets trying to rouse the ship whose lights they could see 8 to 10 miles away.
